DOLE FINES TAB BALDWIN ₱9.8M, ATENEO DE MANILA ₱4.9M OVER WORK PERMIT VIOLATIONS

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has found former Ateneo head coach **Tab Baldwin and Ateneo de Manila University administratively liable** over violations involving Baldwin’s authority to work in the Philippines. DOLE said Baldwin was assessed a **₱4.9-million fine** for working without the required Alien Employment Permit.
Reports citing the DOLE ruling state that Baldwin was also assessed another **₱4.9 million** over failure to obtain the required certificate of exemption, bringing the penalties imposed on him to **₱9.8 million**. Ateneo was likewise ordered to pay **₱4.9 million** for employing him without the required permit.
The case is also expected to be referred to the **Bureau of Immigration** for appropriate proceedings. The development follows DOLE’s earlier investigation into Baldwin’s employment status and whether he possessed the necessary authorization to work as a foreign national in the Philippines.
