LEGACY LIVES ON: MEMORIAL MURAL UNVEILED IN HONOR OF LATE STUDENT-ATHLETE RENE “BOBET” BATERBONIA

A meaningful tribute has been unveiled in Murcia, Negros Occidental, celebrating the life and passion of late student-athlete Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia. The artwork, now displayed at the Yanson Residence, immortalizes the young basketball player through a hand-painted mural created by artist Brent Pit.
The initiative was commissioned by Makki Yanson, who shared that the tribute was a way of honoring Baterbonia’s memory despite geographical distance from his hometown in Talacogon, Agusan del Sur. The gesture highlights how admiration and remembrance can transcend location, preserving the legacy of individuals who have made an impact in their communities.
The mural stands not only as an artistic installation but also as a symbol of respect, unity, and the enduring spirit of youth sports within the Filipino basketball community.
