MATT CAYETANO BIDS TEMPORARY GOODBYE TO FACEBOOK, MENTIONS LATE TEAMMATE BOBET IN HEARTFELT MESSAGE

Matt Cayetano has announced on social media that he is “signing off” from Facebook temporarily, saying he needs rest and does not know when he will return.
His emotional posts quickly gained attention, especially within Filipino basketball circles where Cayetano is known as a teammate and close friend of the late Rene Clert “Bobet” Baterbonia, a standout youth player from Agusan del Sur.
Cayetano and Baterbonia played together in the Ateneo de Davao system and were part of the same rising core that competed in major youth tournaments, including Palarong Pambansa. Their group later drew national attention for producing top high school prospects.
Baterbonia, considered one of the brightest young basketball talents in the country, tragically passed away in a drowning incident in 2026, a loss that deeply affected teammates including Cayetano.
While Cayetano’s post suggests a personal break from social media, there is no indication that he is stepping away from basketball or his athletic path.
