MAYOR VICO SOTTO WINS $1M BLOOMBERG GRANT FOR FLOATING PARKS PROJECT

Pasig City has earned global recognition after being chosen as one of the winners of the Bloomberg Philanthropies 2025–2026 Mayors Challenge.
The city will receive a $1 million grant, along with support to help develop its proposal for floating parks along the Pasig River. The project aims to create more public open spaces while involving residents in the planning and management of the parks.
Bloomberg Philanthropies said Pasig’s project centers on co-designing floating parks with residents in flood-prone waterways to help add green space and strengthen community ties. The city was among 24 winners selected from more than 630 applications worldwide.
Mayor Vico Sotto also joined other city leaders at Bloomberg CityLab 2026 in Madrid, where winning cities discussed how their projects would move forward.
Pasig’s recognition highlights its effort to turn underused river spaces into practical, community-centered areas for recreation and public use.
