POLICE CORPORAL RELIEVED FOLLOWING NAPOLCOM CONFRONTATION OVER VIRAL ARREST INCIDENT

Police Corporal Simeon Suan has been relieved from his post and placed under restrictive custody after a viral traffic incident involving a 76-year-old driver in Taguig City drew public criticism.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a minor road collision, where Suan was seen handcuffing and dragging senior citizen Santiago Garcia. The video quickly spread online and raised concerns over police conduct and the use of force.
During a press briefing, Suan also figured in a heated exchange with NAPOLCOM Commissioner Rafael Vicente Calinisan, who questioned his actions and disciplinary record. Suan defended himself, saying he wanted due process and that the viral video did not show the full context of the incident.
Following the confrontation, NAPOLCOM ordered the filing of appropriate complaints and a motu proprio investigation against Suan for possible administrative violations. The case continues to spark public discussion on accountability, discipline, and proper police conduct.
