USEC. CLAIRE CASTRO CLARIFIES REMARKS ABOUT TEACHERS

Office of the Press Secretary Undersecretary Claire Castro clarified her previous statement regarding teachers after it drew public reactions and what she described as misunderstandings.
Castro said her remarks were not intended to blame teachers. She explained that her message was meant to highlight the important role educators play in helping develop the values and character of young people
“We are not blaming the teachers. This is simply a reminder of their important role as those who help shape good values and character among our youth,” Castro said.
Her clarification came amid discussions following the Zamboanga school shooting, where public conversations included questions about responsibility, youth behavior, and the roles of different institutions in protecting students.
Castro emphasized that teachers remain important figures in guiding and educating the younger generation.
