Vice explained that while most people celebrate Mother’s Day by giving flowers, gifts, and showing affection to their mothers, the holiday originally began because of a daughter’s grief. It was created to honor the memory of a mother who had passed away, marking a day of remembrance for the love and sacrifices of mothers. “Mother’s Day is not just a celebration — it is honoring a daughter’s grief,” Vice said.
