      ATENEO COMMUNITY MOURNS LOSS OF TWO STUDENT-ATHLETES IN DROWNING INCIDENT

      The Ateneo de Manila University community is grieving the loss of two student-athletes from the Ateneo Men’s Basketball Team, Rene Clert Baterbonia and Divine Adili, who reportedly died following a drowning incident during a team-building activity in Dipaculao on June 8, 2026.

      According to the information shared, Adili was 21 years old, while Baterbonia was 19. Their passing has brought deep sadness to their teammates, coaches, classmates, friends, and loved ones, as well as to the wider Ateneo community.

      The university has expressed its condolences to the families of the two young athletes and has asked the community to offer prayers and support during this difficult time.

      Their loss is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be. May Rene Clert Baterbonia and Divine Adili be remembered with love, respect, and gratitude for the lives they touched.
