      MAGNITUDE 7.0 EARTHQUAKE REPORTEDLY JOLTS MINDANAO; DAMAGE REPORTED IN SEVERAL AREAS

      A strong magnitude 7.0 earthquake reportedly struck offshore Sarangani on Friday morning, with damage reported in several areas across Mindanao.

      Based on initial reports, some buildings and structures sustained damage following the tremor. In parts of the Davao Region, fallen debris and a collapsed classroom were also reported, prompting local authorities and emergency responders to conduct inspections.

      Officials are still assessing the full extent of the damage, while residents in affected areas have been advised to remain alert for possible aftershocks.

      Authorities also reminded the public to avoid entering damaged buildings and structures until these have been inspected and declared safe.

      Residents are urged to monitor updates from official sources, including PHIVOLCS, local disaster risk reduction offices, and local government units.
