Ateneo de Manila University has confirmed that head coach Tab Baldwin and team manager Epok Quimpo have stepped down from their positions following a tragic incident in Aurora involving two Blue Eagles student-athletes.
The university said it has accepted their resignations as investigations into the circumstances of the incident continue. The event, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili during a team activity, has led to widespread mourning within the Ateneo community and Philippine basketball circles.
In response, the university has begun reviewing safety protocols for student-athlete activities while cooperating with ongoing inquiries.
