DARRYL YAP DEFENDS TEACHERS AMID CLAIRE CASTRO’S REMARKS ON ZAMBOANGA SHOOTING

Director Darryl Yap criticized Undersecretary Claire Castro over remarks concerning the morality and conduct of teachers following the school shooting in Zamboanga.
In a Facebook post, Yap noted that both of his parents are retired public school teachers. He later questioned in the comments why, in his view, attention appeared to be shifting toward teachers instead of examining possible shortcomings on the part of the state.
His remarks added to the continuing public discussion over accountability and institutional responsibility following the incident.
