DSWD TO CONSIDER DIGITAL CASH AID SYSTEM FOLLOWING QC INCIDENT

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is looking into shifting to digital payment methods, such as e-wallets, for distributing financial assistance after a motorcycle taxi rider passed away during a payout event in Quezon City. The goal is to minimize long lines, improve safety, and lower administrative expenses.

The agency acknowledged shortcomings in managing the large crowd at the recent payout and plans to enhance its queuing and crowd control systems. Cash aid distribution will continue, with additional schedules to be announced. Meanwhile, DSWD is also reviewing a reported case of identity misuse in Taguig and is considering extending assistance to more sectors affected by ongoing energy-related challenges.
