      Section image

The heat index in several parts of the country may reach dangerous levels again on Saturday, May 16, according to PAGASA.

Eight areas may experience a heat index of 44°C: Borongan City, Butuan City, Camiling in Tarlac, Cavite City, Dumangas in Iloilo, Science City of Muñoz, San Jose in Occidental Mindoro, and Tanauan City.

In Metro Manila, the heat index may climb to 43°C in Pasay City and 42°C in Quezon City.

PAGASA warned that heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible under danger-level heat indices, while heat stroke becomes likely with prolonged exposure. The public is advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and limit outdoor activities during the hottest hours of the day.
