LUZON GRID UNDER RED ALERT, POSSIBLE ROTATIONAL BROWNOUTS EXPECTED

Residents in parts of Luzon may experience possible rotational brownouts today after the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines placed the Luzon grid under Red Alert due to tight power supply.
The Red Alert is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, while Yellow Alert periods are set before and after the main alert window. NGCP data cited in reports showed that projected demand may exceed available supply, raising the risk of power interruptions in affected areas.
Several power plants are reportedly either on forced outage or operating at reduced capacity, leaving thousands of megawatts unavailable to the grid. A Red Alert means supply is not enough to meet demand and reserve requirements, while a Yellow Alert signals thin operating reserves.
Consumers are advised to conserve electricity, charge essential devices, and monitor updates from NGCP, Meralco, and their local electric cooperatives for specific outage schedules.
