The NBA Playoffs kicked off with a major ratings boost, as opening Sunday drew over 35 million viewers across the United States on ABC and NBC/Peacock—the highest in 15 years and a 65% increase from last season.

Led by stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Victor Wembanyama, the four-game slate averaged 4.87 million viewers.

On the court, the Boston Celtics dominated the Philadelphia 76ers, while the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder cruised past the Phoenix Suns. The biggest surprise came as the Orlando Magic upset the Detroit Pistons, and the San Antonio Spurs closed the day with a win over the Portland Trail Blazers.
