Filipino Conjoined Twins Successfully Separated in Riyadh
A pair of 7-year-old Filipino twins, Klea Ann and Maurice Ann Misa, were successfully separated in a complex surgery in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on April 23–24, 2026.
The twins were born with a rare condition called Craniopagus, meaning they were joined at the head and shared parts of the brain and blood vessels. The nearly 18.5-hour operation was carried out at King Abdullah Specialized Children’s Hospital by a team of around 30 specialists.
The high-risk procedure was fully supported by the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, which has now recorded its 70th successful separation.
The twins, who are from Lubang, Mindoro in the Philippines, are currently recovering in intensive care. Their family described the outcome as a miracle, giving the children a chance to live separate and independent lives.
